Barbell Complex

The barbell complex is a fantastic circuit style of training using a barbell. It is fantastic for burning fat as well as developing lean mass whilst keeping the intensity of the workout high. The idea is that you use a light/medium weight that you can sustain throughout the complex. We are going for muscular endurance here rather than pure strength. However you should be finding it tough towards the end of the set. If you are not sweating and out of breath after each set you need to up the weight!

Keep strict technique throughout. The circuit runs as follows:

  • Clean and Press X 12
  • Upright Rows X 12
  • Squats X 12
  • Deadlifts X 12
  • Bent Over Rows X 12
  • Press-ups X 12
